open admin center>global>anti spam tweak some settings about captcha....
try not to use flash image.....it usually is distorted....

Oh is it..?cause i remember my captcha image going like that when i madeit too complicated and used the flash image.....even i could not read out a thing.so i thought he did the same as me........
