Yes, I used some settings in PHP.INI

When I used:
mbstring.func_overload =  7
I had problems with logging in

When replaced by:
mbstring.func_overload = 4
the problem was solved

AFAIK there is no function overloading in X2.
Let you try to disable function overloading!
mbstring.func_overload = 0
