Quition: why we need it ?
Answer: you don't need to edit your footer every year

to do this go on:
template/default/common/

Then open this file: "footer.htm" with a text editor and search for " © "

For example: © 2009-2011

replace "2011" with this code " <?php echo date(Y) ?> "

if you done right you should now see this copyright text:

Every year it will auto update the new year.
