common_district translation

The /install/data/common_district_*.sql files contains the China Province/District/City/Village info.
This files are translated by Google translator, and works ok, but the translation quality is too bad
It would be nice if anybody Chinese native speaking can help me to beautify this translation.

No problems.
Everybody can do it by himself from Admin-Center.

Moreover, it is available to make a special universal update for country/region data.
For do this. we have to increase to 1 all the the levels in current table,
then create China country record with level=0, and attach to it all the up-level China provinces.
After this change all other countries level to 0.
... and add what you want to any country...

Idea - make an international regional database with countries/states/cities/villages.

I think to solve this task in a few steps:

1)  Create new database with the same strucrure as in original common_district structure [DONE].
2) Add an official country list with ISO 3166-1 [DONE].
3) Add an official international region list with FIPS 10-4 [DONE].
4) Change the region/state code for US and CA with ISO-3166-2 [DONE].
5) Add the world city list.
6) Separate the regions database for use separate country/region/city names for each language installed.
7) Add Geo location for all the records in a database (for show in a Google Maps).
8) Add IP address ranges mapped to the country list.
9) Add Geo Location for each member profile (for show in a Google Maps).

But some problems encountered.

The city list that I had found at maxmind.com have only 3 levels (Country/State/City),
but the real country administrative division is more complex and often have FOUR levels.

Moreover, the maxmind world city database have a lot of errors:
- non-ASCII city names
- duplicated city names in the same region
- mapping cities to nonexistent region code
- mapping cities to nonexistent countries
- mapping cities to invalid country/region
- etc.

This is bad
Trying to solve all this problems....

If anybody knows another ready to use database with Country/State/City/Village,
tell me please!!

Не знаю, как по всему миру, но я видел базы городов России, Украины и Беларуси, объединенные...
А с другой стороны - если твой проект ориентирован на русскоговорящего пользователя+англоговорящего, по трафику ты видишь откуда к тебе заходят и какие страны проявляют интерес, ничего не мешает добавить просто эти страны и города, а для остальных создать "Другой город"...

Нашел его, вот он

По крайней мере, можно будет взять страны-города РФ, Украины и Беларуси.
Ну, а по всем остальным странам - исправить или писать название в оригинале.

А что тогда делать с вьетнамцами, арабами и латиносами?
Я добавлял только те языки, для которых есть заинтересованные и уже сделавшие свои языковые сборки.

можно будет взять страны-города РФ, Украины и Беларуси.

Ну, можно конечно...
Только мне лично нафиг не сдалось РУЧКАМИ формировать огромные базы.
Лучше уж найти общепризнанные и поддерживаемые международные базы, и сконвертировать их в наш формат, чем каждый раз колупать руками миллионы записей в базе.
А если ещё учесть, что планируется МУЛЬТИЯЗЫЧНАЯ поддержка регионов, то это лучше вообще сразу застрелиться!

I have found another release of world cities database:
http://geonames.org/

This database is more complex and have more levels for administrative divisions.

Now checking, if this can be usefull for us...
