You must understand that YOUR DATABASE STAY THE SAME!!!
Only php driver changed from mysql to mysqli ...

I test the latest offical version ，it's works fine with php 7.x & MySql 5.5x . DB Drive must use Mysqli .And I use ML version is work fine too.
Upgrade for an exsit offical forum or now install I have tried.

Did you try to use PHP7.x?
