How to setup email - Registration and password recovery?

Hey guys,
I want to set up email so users who register can receive an activation email and forgot password?

I see there is an option under Admin > Email but I am not sure what options to choose. I tried php send function but new users are not receiving emails.

I searched this forum but I didn't get a proper explanation.

Can you tell me the steps to setup email?

The best solution is to use an external SMTP server:
· SMTP server using sockets (supports ESMTP authentication)
Then set your provider SMTP parameters (just an example):
SMTP server:         smtp.hotmail.com
SMTP port:         25
Authentication:         Yes (Check it)
Email sender address:         blabla@outlook.com
SMTP Authentication User Name:         blabla@outlook.com
SMTP authentication password:         yor_user_password

so I am trying to use this external SMTP server. Tried testing manually it is working.

But after adding the details at SMTP at Discuz, the test mail function say test failed.








I tried looking at my logs at my server where forum is hosted. I am not able to figure out why this happening.


Even tried disabling the local server email. Not much help.




Can you please check and guide me little bit.

That type error is happening when a client system does not support modern TLS Standards.

What the OS you are using to install Discuz?
If it is Windows 7, try to update the TLS to version 1.2+

what do you mean? like using my personal mail to send emails by using gmail SMTP.

I think that is not required. I triend to send it by that too, it yield the same result.
